Pluto

"Were you the one who murdered me, Detective?"

Finished: January 2.. 3.

[Note: I have not read or watched a lot of Astro Boy yet. I have the first omnibus but didn't finish it yet. So I don't know how similar or different it is in Pluto]

First, I want to ramble unrelated to the show (half of this entry is basically a new years eve blog lol): A few days before new years I got a bit tired of playing Assassin's Creed Unity and wanted to eat some chips so I decided to find something to watch. I went on netflix and eventually searched up ghibli and was gonna end up watching Porco Rosso (I never seen it and it was only 1 and a half hours) but wasn't really feeling that so I decided to grab my phone to look at my watch/read list. I saw Pluto right at the top of the anime section and went "oh ya each of these were only about an hour long", that was perfect because I didn't want something that long. (If you don't know, Pluto only has 8 episodes, each approximately an hour long).

I watched the next few episodes the day after I think. I was wanting to finish it before the new year started (I was going to make a post about it anyways) but on new year's eve I woke up late (I always wake up late) and saw that my mom and brother were watching a Hobbit movie (my brother was watching it with me so obviously I was just gonna wait) but since it was new year's eve my dad wanted to do some family game night so after they finished the movie we were gonna do some games.. but even after they came upstairs after the movie we spent at least (I wasnt timing but it was Way too long) an hour waiting to do literally anything!! I was getting really annoyed.. We did eventually start and I got less annoyed though..

Shortly after the games my dad got tired and went to bed while my mom and brother turned on the next Hobbit movie.

At 11:40pm or a bit after I went in the bathroom and because I take a while in there (not because I have any sort of big "bathroom troubles" or anything, I just take my sweet time) my mom knocked on the door and told me its 30 seconds for countdown. I didn't actually step out of the bathroom until a few minutes after twelve so I might've been washing my hands at the time (something I do plenty of).

Finally about the show: Even though I wanted this to be my first entry, I don't think I have that much to say on it. Not that that or the show is bad (actually it would be nicer if I had more to say).. I thought the show was good. I liked Gesicht and in a later episode I ended up liking Epsilon. At first I wasnt very aware of the past then present scenes they would do so for a particular one it got me a little confused for the rest of the show and they don't label where they are either (Japan, Germany, Persia, etc.. even though yes you could tell by the person most of the time but still I feel like it'll help at least a little sometimes.. like they could zoom out of a place then zoom in to the next one on a map. Again this is not that important, I knew where they were!! It just feels like they jump around too much without any sense of travel).

In the first episode the second half (actually ends up feeling like its more than half of the episode but idk if it actually is lol) we follow a robot butler and an old guy. I didn't really mind it but like I just said it feels quite long and I feel like some people won't like it because it wasn't really exciting. I still ended up tearing up a bit though lol.

I don't want to be spoilery so I'll try not to be but a big part, if not the whole antagonist itself you could say in a way, of the story is "hate". I liked when [redacted] said something along the lines of "I've been scared of myself ever since I learned to hate." A big part of why I wanted to stop scrolling on twitter some sites is because I would get mad at basically anything and anyone.. I would also quote another line but it's a last episode one so I won't.. but I liked that one too.

Trying to think of things to write I keep forgetting.. In the first epsiode we see a Black Jack cameo! Unfortunately, we don't see his face or head but if you know Black Jack it was clearly him.

In one episode we learn about a forgotten memory that even in the end we purposely don't know anything about. This I think is probably to make us think about how sometimes it is better if we don't know/remember something. But still I don't really like when things bring up something like that and even in the end we don't get to know anything about it.. I wanna know!!!

Hmm.. well I can't think of what else to write about.. and without it being spoilery at least. Sometimes the way they did the 3d tornado animation was cool.. Well, again it was still a nice watch. It seems to have a lot of praise and that it's VERY very good.. but to be honest I wasnt THAT into it. Maybe it could use a rewatch or a read.. even though I think I got it all now other than being a bit confused on one certain character.

Now that I think about it, I think this show suffers a little like how Undertale can. That if you don't Really care about many of the characters then it becomes less impactful. The focus would be on.. elsewhere like perhaps the philosophical stuff. I think that's part of the reason I wasn't THAT into it. I did like some characters but not enough to go "NOOO!" and I thought the philosophical stuff of humans and robots was pretty basic. Actually now that I think about it More I guess that could be an issue with anything.. anyways!

Ok that may be it now.. if you haven't seen it yet and like Astro Boy or robots or some philosophical stuff then go ahead and give it a watch if you're interested I guess.
